I decided to crawl under it.

Mustang, or at least, something with a Coyote V8?

It’s kind of strange! I don’t think I’ve ever been under a car that was that new.

I feel like that oil filter location gives it away but I can’t think of any engines with one mounted like that.

You are very close, though you essentially got it

I know! It's weird to crawl under a car and not see grime and rust.

Judging from the oil filter and cooler line positions (and some help from google), I’m going to say an F-150, then.

I like the placement of that filter... if only there wasn't a skid plate directly under it.

No, not really ;)

Looks like a nice way to make a big mess the second you crack the filter. Google tells me that looks like a Ford Ecoboost V6. Ecoboop F150?

Close. It's the 5.0.

The braided wrap on some of the lines told me it was a Ford (I have some on my GT350), then I recognized the shape of the Coyote valve cover in the top right of the picture. I honestly kinda surprised myself, haha.

There were three gt350's at this dealer. The markup they wanted was insane! They looked very menacing though. Those and this truck made  me kinda want an S550

I’m guessing it’s an ‘18? I’m sure you haven’t had enough seat time for a super-thorough review, but what are your thoughts on it so far ? What made you decide on the 5.0 over the 3.5 ( or 2.7, or even 3.3 lol) ?

I ask because I’ve been very, seriously looking at ‘ 18's all year   and am basically gonna get one within the next month or two , but short of custom   ordering one ( well, a ‘19 by now) , everything I find on t he lots that have most of what I want are equipped with the 2.7 or the 3.5, and while I know they are great engines, I just want a good ol’ V8. Great   sound, more character,   less shit to go wrong without all the turbos and plumbing after six-figure mileage, etc.

But finding one with the specs, color combos, and options I want is a total pain in the ass. Of course, that has more to do with the fact t hat I want an extended cab, but if a dealer has 80 F150s on their lot, 1 will be a single cab, 4 -7 will be extended cabs in either white or silver with lousy options and maybe only one has the 5.0, and the remaining 72 -75 trucks are all damn crew cabs and I want nothing to do with them, but that’s all dealers are pushing on everyone. It’s infuriating.

Yes, 2018. I wanted the 5.0 for the same reasons you mentioned. Plus, the acceleration and towing differences between this engine and the 3.5 are essentially negligible stock for stock. I’ve done the whole turbo v6 thing in the recent past and wanted to get back into a V8 too.

This one has most all of the options we wanted and a whole bunch we didn’t, but we got a healthy discount and the 6 year financing at 0% apr. I plan on doing a more complete write-up soon.

Overall, I like it so far. Rides nice, I’m averaging 18.5 mpg in bad traffic, and it can still accelerate well if I need it to.

I may get a flex fuel tune for it once the break in period is over. Apparently some folks are making over 400whp on just a tune with e85. This 5.0 iteration is nearly identical to the 2018 mustang from what I understand.
